In 1842, the Croton Reservoir opened on the corner of 42nd Street and 5th Avenue, the location of the New York Public Library.
Yeah I know the reservoir really has nothing to do with the library now, but hey! It's still in the same location. Can you believe that? Instead of a library, there was a fortress of stored water. Hmm...interesting!
Since I'm here talking about the New York Public Library, let me show you the room that I'm in. It's pretty fantastic! :)
It's pretty, but it makes me wonder where all the other books are. Also, I was looking at some older pictures of this room, and the chairs and tables are set up the exact same way they were done in the 1920s. The furniture even looked the same. I don't know if the furniture is from the 1920s but what if it is?!
Leaving this room, there is a great mural on the ceiling. You'd think we were in the Sistine Chapel or something. But no...it's just a library! ;)
Er...I think I might have taken the picture upside down. Sorry about that.
I miss going to the library to apply for jobs and such because I'm so busy going to work and doing my internship, but at least I have a job now, right? I'm definitely going to try to stop by to continue the job search!
Well, hope you're all doing well! I know this blog hasn't been kept updated regularly, but there might be some crazy changes in the next couple weeks. You never know as we venture past our first 100 posts.
GOOD LUCK with midterms and have a FANTASTIC fall break! :)
Awesome friends telling other awesome friends what is up in the Library, specifically, the second floor balcony facing the parking lot.

"This table is perfect for dancing on."
Just one of the random quotes I had tonight while studying for my POL200 exam tonight in the library. hahaha
It was an interesting night. Sam and K-Scal were already in the library with their stuff in the basement. I don't really like studying in the basement because it's completely silent, and people always seem pissed when you walk down there to study, like you're invading their space or something. Uh, hello people. It's a library. People have to walk to the place where they are going to study at some point. But yeah, I settled down in the basement and was just uncomfortably hot. Plus it seemed like I was making a ton of noise. As soon as K-Scal came downstairs, I went outside to get some fresh air.
Guess who I found outside? Rick and Madison! We decided to head over to Villa, but first with a pit stop in the library. I needed my ID card. I also got a chance to check out a movie for class - Citizen Kane. Now who was working the media desk? 15 min guy! haha I swear...another Mean Girls moment. Instead of checking out my movie there, we had to walk upstairs together so that I could check it out at the front desk because the computer wasn't working for some reason. Weird. According to Madison, the computer at the media desk worked yesterday...
So yeah, we were on our merry way to Villa. Fun times! This year (probably even just this semester), I've been to Villa (like not just the lobby area) more times than I have in my whole UP career. It really helps that I actually know quite a few of them now. haha
Back from Villa, Madison and I dropped off Rick at the library while we proceeded to the Cove. Got some late night snackage and headed back for some studying in our favorite study area.
We decided to get out of the silent black hole of the basement. We passed by the 15 min guy, who smiled at us. Haha Madison and I sat in that corner table again. I'm telling you, I'm warming up to that corner area. It's kinda nice. Rick wanted us to join him, but he was at one of those really large, low tables that I don't like...where he was spying on Scott (no joke dude).
So yeah, I'd say it was productive-ish night for homework. I like working with Madison. I feel like I actually get something done when I'm with her. No offense Rick, but sometimes you talk too much. And yes, I just called you out on it in our blog.
Anyway, it's getting late, and I need to do some last minute studying before heading to bed. Hope everyone's surviving this midterm week (unless of course you still don't have midterms or you're already on spring break...you're all lucky bums)! Good luck! We're almost there! :)

"I can see Scott from here."

Really now? From the second balcony, Rick and I leaned to the left to see if we could see him. Like the FAR LEFT. Mind you we were synchronized too. It was like when we saw that laser in front of Fields/Schoenfeldt (that's from a couple posts ago, if you're wondering). I'm sure Rick could see him, but Scott's still behind the bookshelf for me. OH well.
So spring break is in a couple days. Rick's staying in Portland to go exploring with Seamus (one of his many bromances...and by many, I really mean it), while I'm heading to VegASS (as my cousin would say) with Sam and Alyssa for the WCC Basketball Tournament among other things. Then it's off to home [sweet] home in Elk Grove, Calif. So exciting! We could really use this break; although I'm positive that I'll still need to complete a couple homework assignments at home as well as figuring out my plans for the summer. Anywho, back to times in the library...
It's the beginning of the week before spring break (obviously), and things are busier than ever (well, at least I think so...okay Rick agrees too). It's intense. We'll be here often, working. This is a study break, in case you were trying to figure that out too. So yeah, best be off to working again.
Ah...there's Madison working...haha

Okay. Seriously, let's get some work done! Good luck with midterms everyone (okay...just those who have them. If you don't, you're a lucky bum)!
P.S. Look who's in his usual spot in the library...

JEFF MAKJAVICH!!! :)
Another thing, Madison is going around telling people they have 15 minutes left in the library. Hahaha no, that doesn't make her 15 minutes girl. She's Madison.
